Light ruby color. Aromas of bright cherries and wild raspberries, this is a highly floral wine, like red and white roses, add in some spiced tea, white pepper and rhubarb, and there is a whole lot to sniff in this beauty. Medium-dusty tannins on the palate, medium-bodied, absolutely lip-smacking acidity, this has laser-like focus but shows enough grip to keep things serious. Bright red fruit is doused in roses, black tea, clove. Hints of cherry wood and light roast coffee. Long and seamless. Gorgeous now but I’d love to revisit this in two or three years. Aged 10 months in 40% new French oak. From the Bush Vineyard. Wow. (92 points)

Planted in 2012, this 12-acre vineyard was developed for a select set of Dutton Ranch clients, including Ernest. The vineyard sits on a north-facing slope in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley, and is planted to Swan, Calera, and 828 clones. We are excited to watch this property develop over the next 10 years, and intend to source from it to make our flagship Pinot Noir.

The aromas of this wine are subtle but intriguing, with hints of rose petals, chalk, and dried red berries. On the palate, it delivers flavors of pomegranate seeds and sour cherries, with lingering notes of roses. Considering the grapes hail from a young site, the wine drinks like a refined pinot—a pleasant surprise.
