Whole Cluster Pinot Noir 2015
Sonoma Coast
We sourced fruit for this project from the Gunsalus vineyard, 10 acres of Pinot Noir that was planted in 2001 with a variety of Dijon clones located on a northwest-facing slope in the Green Valley. This meticulously farmed vineyard sits on well-drained Sebastopol loam and Goldridge sandy loam soils.
Normally, when making Pinot Noir, most of the stems are removed from the grape clusters prior to fermentation. But stems can be a great source of structure, spice, and interest so we wanted to take one wine to the extreme to understand what sits at the boundary. We are happy to report that it's pretty groovy out there...One barrel is a scant 23 cases so this is a rare and unique gem only available to our list members and in our tasting room.
