Wow! This is Unexpected and Thrilling

The quantity produced is always tiny and the alternative varietals for California tend to sit second fiddle to our front-and-center Ernest Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.
They’re gaining some attention and we’re thrilled for them and you.
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate delivered some kind words and flattering scores to this little set of wines and we can’t help but celebrate. As we love to do!
In case you missed them the first time, they’re back for a limited offering to celebrate these scores!
We launched Edaphos in 2014 as a place to blow off some steam. Pinot noir is hard. Honest and transparent Chardonnay is equally daunting.
Grenache? Who knows, let’s try! - we said. And thus, Edaphos was born.
As a place to explore, to educate and to revel in the fun it is to learn about making wine in new and old ways. For instance, all of our concrete vessels at the winery are dedicated to Edaphos. And thus, we’re offering some of the only un-oaked red wines in CA.
It’s a fluid place, Edaphos, every vintage is going to be a bit different. Offerings will vary based on interest and opportunity. But, what will always stay true is the name - Edaphos. It translates in the Greek language to dirt, soil, ground….which is what you can always count on. A wine with a sense of place. A story to tell about its vintage.
Which now that I think about it, is not so very different from our Ernest wines after all.
