Alder Springs Vineyard is known for producing exceptional fruit, specifically focusing on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Rhone red and white varietals on its 6,000 acre ranch (only about 140 acres are planted) in Northern Mendocino, just 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and ranging from 1,700 to 2,700 feet of elevation. The cabernet is then a more restrained fruit than that from neighboring valleys.
A ruby red wine bright and clear with seamless color range. Beautifully aromatic with notes of plums, blackberries, forest floor and spicy notes. This wine is a true expression of cool-climate Cabernet with all the varietals notes leaping out of the glass without the oppressive levels of alcohol and oak. On the palate, it demonstrate the grape’s character from start to finish; nice mid-palate tannic grip and mouth filling dark fruit flavors, followed but subtle notes of cedar, tobacco and leather. There’s an unexpected lift to the whole experience due to the wine’s lower alcohol and relatively bright acidity. The palate remains on the edge between leaning on the the more savory aspects of the wine or totally embracing its fruity and mouth-watering freshness.
