Alder Springs Petite Arvine 2022

This being our 5th vintage working with Petite Arvine from the inimitable Alder Springs Vineyard. The new block is producing some fruit and the berries are larger and later ripening with a broader palate profile. This allows for us to pick the older vines a bit earlier, capturing all the herbaceous and floral qualities of this wine with a high level of acid still intact. Neutral puncheon as always that now sees a full year on lees to slowly ferment on native yeasts and a long, slow malolactic conversion. This is our best version to date.
2022 Ernest Vineyards Alder Springs Petite Arvine is a pale-yellow wine with white gold hues. It offers a discreet aromatic profile with floral and fruity notes, including Asian pears, lychee, and cantaloupe, followed by exotic aromas of Jackfruit, papaya, and pink grapefruit, with underlying mineral notes. The palate is clean, refreshing, and subtly sweet, featuring candied kumquats, tangerines, hints of tree sap, and pine needles. It shows no oak influence, ensuring a pure expression of the varietal. Fresh acidity and mineral components lead to a long, pleasant finish, with floral tones emerging over time.
