Petite Arvine 2021
Mendocino County
This being our 5th vintage working with Petite Arvine from the inimitable Alder Springs Vineyard. The new block is producing some fruit and the berries are larger and later ripening with a broader palate profile. This allows for us to pick the older vines a bit earlier, capturing all the herbaceous and floral qualities of this wine with a high level of acid still intact. Neutral puncheon as always that now sees a full year on lees to slowly ferment on native yeasts and a long, slow malolactic conversion. This is our best version to date.
The aromatics on this vintage are specific, evoking stone fruit and Alpine forest vibrancy. The palate follows with a fruit forward attack flowing through with both weight and verve. There are hints of minerals, melons, and pears. A palate ranging from honeydew, sour apples, sweet oranges, and herbs.
